Trying out AV1 encoding for PC gameplay is a game changer for archiving. I've been capturing Elden Ring at 1440p, and the file sizes are about 35% smaller than x265 at the same visual quality. The trade-off is you'll need a modern GPU or patience for software encoding, but the clarity retention during fast-paced combat is genuinely impressive.
